Let's celebrate the 2010 Lax Season!!!

WPIAL Playoff Game - Wednesday May 19th @ Sewickley Academy (4:00)

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
Upper St. Clair Panthers 0 0 1 1 2
Sewickley Academy 4 0 4 4 12

Game Highlights:

The Panthers entered the game without their defensive captain, Drew Newman.  The loss of a d-pole would prove to be a key in the game.  Sewickley started the game quickly, scoring twice within the first 3 minutes.  Sewickley posessed the ball for most of the 1st half, taxing the Panther defense and opening a lead that would not be overcome.  Sewickey smothered the Panthers offense allowing only 15 shots on goal.

    1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
    Mt Lebanon Blue Devils 3 1 0 2 6
    Upper St. Clair Panthers 2 0 0 2 4

    Game Highlights:

Ask not for whom the post tolls, it tolls for thee USC.  The Panthers offense had many chances to score, but clanged the post 5 times instead of tickling the twine.  Open looks were missed as Lebo was able to squeek by with a 2 goal victory.

Lebo started quickly getting out to an early 2 goal lead.  Jeff Barkas 2 goal first quarter was able to keep the 1 goal deficit after 1 quarter.  The Panthers were held scoreless in the 2nd as Lebo was able to add 1 to their lead.

The Panthers defense would have been enough on any other night, but with our offense not clicking... Lebo was able to defeat the Panthers.

    Game Highlights:

The Shady Side Academy Indians scored first on their first shot and took a 2 goals to 1 lead into the second.  The Panthers evened the score in the second taking a tie game into half time.   The Panthers scored 3 times in the third while holding the Indians scoreless for the 2nd straight quarter.  The Panthers led 5-2 after 3.  Once the Panthers took the lead in the third, Shady Side was unable to breakthrough the tenacious Panther defense.  The fourth quarter scoring was even with both teams scoring twice.

The highlight of the fourth was when Shady Side was on a 2-man up, the Panthers defense were able to kill both penalties.  This excited both the crowd and the player.  The Panthers held the Indians to just 2 goals in the last 6 minutes of game as the Indians continued to pressure the Panthers to get back into the game.

Stevie Morgan, the emotional leader and captain, led the scoring with 3 goals on 6 shots. Michael Toth lead the defense with 8 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.   Goaltender, Kevin Christie, stopped 9 of 13 shots (69% save percentage).  All contibuting to a great victory.

    Game Photos by Carla Roehner
    Note from Carla....
    Hi everyone,

You may have noticed me on the field taking pictures during the varsity games.  Following is a link to my website on where you can see samples of the photos (
http://CapturedbyCarla.phanfare.com)  I have tried to upload at least one photo of each player from each game.

However,  I may not have gotten each player in the first three home games.

I will be at each of the home games and possibly a few of the closer away games if I haven't been able to get photos of everyone.

You are free to use these photos as you wish.  You can print them via this site at a very low cost or you can simply save them to your computer or post them onto facebook.

In the next week, I will forward a price list and order form for you to purchase photos of your son from me at the end of the season if you'd like.   I will also have information about other things I can offer you and at what price.  For example, I am going to produce the varsity slide show for the banquet and you will be able to purchase that for $10.  I can do slideshows (DVD format where you can play it on your TV or computer) of your son's photos put to music, or I could do a collage for you of your son's best photos (something you can do on your own easily . . . but may not choose to.)

So, be on the lookout for that . . . but in the meantime, I wanted you to be able to see samples of my work.

    Thanks.
    Carla Roehner
